Overview – KIFB Program and Agency 2023
Through Keiki Café, the Kauai Independent Food Bank (KIFB) supports child academic enrichment in after school programs, a lull time between lunch and dinner when many kids go hungry. From the program inception in 2004 to now, locations and partners have continued to grow. As we expand our reach, we look forward to partnering with new program coordinators.
Every school day, KIFB serves healthy and nutritious snacks like fresh fruit, yogurt, and granola bars to each keiki enrolled in the program.
Our ultimate goal is not only to alleviate hunger, but to improve children’s health, maximize the impact of their education, and help families stabilize their budgets and save for the future. Through meeting program objectives, we can support our keiki in building a foundation for a healthy future, improving their health outcomes, and excelling academically.
Current program objectives are:
- Prevent hunger in after school hours
- Strengthen academic achievement
- Encourage healthy eating
- Support children’s physical health
